We at Mayfair, have a vast experience in carrying out Preformulation studies and guiding personnel into generation of Preformulation data by narrowing down on physicochemical parameters for specific results for e.g. different preformulation data required for developing Solid dosage forms, parenterals, dermatologicals and liquid dosage forms. The development also includes the cosmetic formulations and other sterile preparations.

Preformulation development on New Chemical Entities (NCEs) or even existing drugs where preformulation data is not available in the literature needs generation of the data required to be used for the next stage viz. Analytical Method Development. In turn, the analytical method developed will be used for processing the biological and non-biological samples as well as analyzing the same quantitatively. The Preformulation studies would involve determination of physico-chemical properties such as solubility at different pH, different temperatures, in different solvents, particle size, polymorphism, partition coefficient and log p values, melting point and boiling point, moisture content etc.

The instruments inhouse available for this purpose include precision melting point and boiling point apparatus, IR moisture balance, Karl Fischer Titration apparatus, sensitive analytical balances, pH meters, Conductivity meter, Flamephotometer, Photofluorimeter, Abbe Refractometer, half shaped Polarimeter, Vortex Shaker, Bulk density apparatus, vacuum oven, drying oven, sieve shaker, research microscope etc. These are in addition to instruments used for the evaluation of tablets including Disintegration Time apparatus, Dissolution Apparatus, hardness tester, friabilator.
